I'm a little confused @ why any of this is considered cheating? In real life if I wanted to give money to anyone for any reason, no one but the IRS should have anything to say about it. People who are cheating are people who gang up on others that come into a room, talk on the phone or IM to each other about who should fold, raise or what have you. Why giving money away to someone to get a medal is bad IDK? Not cheating just good politics I guess. Finally, moving money from one account to another should be fine too. You earned it; you should get to keep it in whatever account you chose. If that's not right get rid of table limits all together. People log in and out of rooms to "BANK" their money all the time!

at 11:48 PM, Saturday March 1, 2008 EST ideally, online poker would mimic the real experience of playing poker live at a table... You could walk out in the hallway and ask your buddy to stake u for a game and in many cases they may. I've got no problem with that... the money you bring to the table is as good as anyone else's.. as long as you are playing an honest game once u get there. Loaning, borrowing, all that crap seems a bit unsportsman like to me, but the reality is that it happens. Many of the players u see on TV are staked. Giving someone millions on the last day of a fake money tournament just so they can have a stupid dot under their name seems retarded and desperate with no reward (other than the dot of course).

at 11:53 PM, Saturday March 1, 2008 EST I have a second account for when I am drunk. Throughout any given month I will play both accounts and then pool the chips into the main account at the end of the month. I can only play one account at a time and I win the chips fair and square.
I have no problem with the idea of running two accounts. As I said on another post; I would hate to work my ass off for one of those nice blue medals and then get bumped out to 28th because in the last moments of the month some players got chipped up by their friends. That would be annoying. That is basically the issue I have with players donating chips to others in the last minutes of a month. It means that those who genuinely earned a medal are denied it. In the past I have received and donated chips so I guess that makes me a hypocrite! That said I don't think I will be a recipient or donor in future. It's actually more fun to accumulate chips through skill and a little luck rather than being given them. So in answer to your question Drew my opinion this: Pooling your own accounts is fine and getting chipped up by a buddy is a bit dodgy. But what the hell, it's only a game. |

at 12:02 AM, Sunday March 2, 2008 EST I agree that transferring money shouldn't be concidered cheating, but can also see how some might concider it unfair. There are actually some people here that only have one account, and only play that account. If those that do the transfering of chips want all of them in one account, then only play that one account.

at 1:30 AM, Sunday March 2, 2008 EST Earned money is earned money weather it's 2, 4, 6, or 10 accounts. You still have to WIN! Unless someone gives you the money but that's their choice. One example of cheating, however, would be transferring funds through multiple accounts bye refilling say 6 accounts and just transferring that money to one other. In theory you could transfer 15K every ten min. with 10 accounts. That would be cheating!!! You're not Winning or being given the money in that case. I believe that gayalliner used to do that.

Accepting large sums to get a medal is unethical. It denies an honest player of the medal they earned. Everytime someone accepts chips at the end of the month just to medal means another player gets bumped out from 100th to 101st. It's not cool for the player that earned their 100th spot. Same goes for players getting chipped up into 25th for one of the nice blue medals. Surely this is obvious. |

I'll never comply with anyone else's notion of fair play...just with my own. You lot can do whatever you want. |
