Why can't all of you see what's wrong?

This is a poker tournament not a neighborhood game. You can't register for a poker tournament that uses real money with two names then comingle funds to have a better chance to win it. Just because the funds are imaginary doesn't negate the lack of ethics you show when you try to pad your winnings through comingling. Even the IRS doesn't allow gifts over a certain amount without taxing them.

at 12:30 AM, Sunday March 2, 2008 EST ideally, online poker would mimic the real experience of playing poker live at a table... You could walk out in the hallway and ask your buddy to stake u for a game and in many cases they may. I've got no problem with that... the money you bring to the table is as good as anyone else's.. as long as you are playing an honest game once u get there. Loaning, borrowing, all that crap seems a bit unsportsman like to me, but the reality is that it happens. Many of the players u see on TV are staked. Giving someone millions on the last day of a fake money tournament just so they can have a stupid dot under their name seems retarded and desperate with no reward (other than the dot of course).

at 12:39 AM, Sunday March 2, 2008 EST Rob, I have a 'sober' account and a 'drunk' account. I put all the chips into one account at the end. Only I play them and they never play at the same time. It's just a different username.
I like to play sometimes when I'm steaming drunk but I know that I'll probably lose my whole stack when drunk so I have a separate account for that. I do not feel that I am being unethical or cheating. If I was given a million at the end of a month so I would get a medal I would feel that I had cheated and had been unethical. |

at 1:29 AM, Sunday March 2, 2008 EST Earned money is earned money weather it's 2, 4, 6, or 10 accounts. You still have to WIN! Unless someone gives you the money but that's their choice. One example of cheating, however, would be transferring funds through multiple accounts bye refilling say 6 accounts and just transferring that money to one other. In theory you could transfer 15K every ten min. with 10 accounts. That would be cheating!!! You're not Winning or being given the money in that case. I believe that gayalliner used to do that.

Accepting large sums to get a medal is unethical. It denies an honest player of the medal they earned. Everytime someone accepts chips at the end of the month just to medal means another player gets bumped out from 100th to 101st. It's not cool for the player that earned their 100th spot. Same goes for players getting chipped up into 25th for one of the nice blue medals. Surely this is obvious. |

at 9:56 AM, Sunday March 2, 2008 EST It's pretty clear to me that all of you with diverging opinions would cheat at the drop of a hat and think it's okay in a real money poker tournament because you won the chips regardless of the name you're playing under. You are all disqualified in my book for not realising the flaw in your opinions.

This thread is a discussion about what constitutes cheating. As a regular player I offered my genuine opinion. You have offered nothing constructive and berated me for offering an opinion. |
