Suggestion: Accessibility Improvement - Keyboard Shortcuts

I'd like to see a new accessibility feature implemented: providing keyboard shortcuts for all functions required to play the game, e.g. Fold, Check, Call, Raise etc.

At the moment this webapp is pretty user-unfriendly for anyone who prefers using the keyboard to the mouse. This might be because they find keyboard input much faster, or because they'd like to avoid using the mouse due to dexterity/physical impairments (e.g. RSI).

Ideally, the player should be able to perform all actions required during actual game play using the keyboard only - including all the functions provided by the current buttons and checkboxes, as well as the textbox for entering the raising amount.

As an example, Gmail provides a set of keyboard shortcuts so that the user can perform the most common tasks (as well as many not-so-common ones) without touching the mouse.

Gmail also provides a keyboard shortcut (default seems to be Esc) to move the cursor into a chat box. A similar function would be welcome in gpokr as well.

Moving the focus away from the chat box (so that all the other keyboard shortcuts would be available again) might be possible with something like the Esc key (which is what Gmail uses for closing a pop-up chat "window").

If this is handled well, it would make chatting and playing at the same time less annoying, time-consuming and hand-hurting since you wouldn't have to constantly click on and outside the chat box.

We do already have keyboard shortcuts.
Check/Fold is Alt+1
Call is Alt+2
Bet/Raise is Alt+3, type in amount then press Enter

Try them!

Thanks for the reply, I didn't know that. BUT, that just doesn't cut it. AT ALL.

You see, Alt+1, Alt+2, Alt+3 etc. are the key bindings for selecting browser tabs in Firefox on Linux, so there is a conflict there, rendering them pretty much unusable. That might not be the case in Windows, but what is the situation in Mac OSX, to name but one other example?

IMHO using modifier keys (like Alt, Ctrl) for these shortcuts is a poor idea since such key bindings would likely conflict with those for the browser and/or the system itself. It's simply asking for trouble.

Please change these key bindings to something more sane (maybe f, c, b etc. would do), or preferably, make them configurable à la Gmail.
