Harassment and Bullying

Recently there has been a very ugly spate of harassment and bullying occuring on this site. Particulary on the day that President Obama was inaugurated.
I witnessed some of it and it was utterly disgusting. There are many, many member of this community and from time to time we cause one another offence with our chat and forum posts. This is to be expected in any large community. However some regular players here have taken this as some sort of license to intimidate, harass and bully certain players that have singled out for rough treatment. The perpetrators of this harassment know who they are and I would like to appeal to them all to desist from this activity once and for all. Play some poker, be sociable and if you don't like another player stay away from, please! |

I only think that an IP block is warranted when it is a continuous problem. Not a one day thing. But, that is my opinion. I honestly think that there has been a lot of tension in the community for a long time. Mostly due to postings on this forum. I actually witnessed quite a bit on this specific day. It did go both ways. Unfortunately, some people do not respect any other persons opinion. You bring politics to any forum, you welcome chaos. And even on a momentous day....may not be what you wanted....nevertheless momentous day, players voiced their opinion and were degraded just the same as in the past on this forum. There was ugliness, but also, there was some very positive things that were put down and those players never lashed out. I just wanted to make sure that we understand it is not all one-sided as it seems sometimes. This is my opinion :) |
