patience is a virtue

when u only have 1.5k all in good hands..

once ur comfortable with ur chip stack move up a table. play tight until ur chip stack builds.

only play ..pairs suited connectors (for small amount)

learn to bluff, read players, get a sence of what to or not to call and when a bluff is good or not.

(i will think of more later)

(Mathematics)
figure out pot odds and how many outs you have and see if it is worth calling.

"Count your outs, multiply them by two, and add one, and that's roughly the percentage shot you have at hitting."

a good poker player does not hope to get lucky just hopes the other does not get lucky

know when to quit when on tilt and when the game is just to good to quit when ahead

MOST IMPORTANT --learn from your mistakes and dont do the same thing twice, cry or blame others

and always be thinking of what ur opponent has. what ur opponent thinks you have. and what ur opponent thinks you think he has.

psychology is very important and helps with bluffing and calling bluffs. (tells are important but not as much on internet)

also..heads up is a lot differnt than a full table. know who you are playing. tight/aggressive and play accordingly

this is all im going to add to this thread :P i know i dont know everything

position, position, position

Things to avoid:

Raising in early position with a less than great hand.

Playing weak aces.

Allowing cheap draws when you hit the flop.

Bluffing multiple players in early postion.

Always playing the same way.

Thinking 2 broadway cards = great hand.

Overplaying top pair.

Overplaying an overpair on flushing and straightening boards.

Playing too many hands.

Being impatient when your running cold.

Trying to hit gutshots unless it's super cheap to call.

Some real good advice .Especially the be patients. I?m personal guilty of most of these . I play( whatever) when I get bored .. Another tip when you get it to the bigger tables ,Unless you have the nuts never over bid a much higher ranked player your just asking to get rivered.
