at 3:28 PM, Saturday April 25, 2009 EDT I am here to make a case in defending the cake..which del has allowed us both to do...thank you del for this opportunity!
1.Cake has been a staple way back to adam and eve...why else would their son grow grain? Flour was a staple even back then. You can argue that a cookie has flour. Ever eat a cookie with no sugar? ACK!! Cake with no sugar tastes like bread ahem *coughs* clears throat. 2. What would birthdays be without cake? Cookies made their appearance in the 80's as a substitute but old people like myself do not have the teeth for a cookie!! 3. Ever hear anyone say come to the birthday party for cookies and ice cream? 4. Yes cookies are good but cake is the food for God and the angels thus the angel food cake was a created masterpiece! Yes I know there is devils food cake too but lets just dwell on the good side :) 5. Steps down from the podium humbly bows and says..LET EM EAT CAKE!!!!!! |

at 7:26 PM, Saturday April 25, 2009 EDT A counter argument for cookies (that's biscuits to the UK folks)and just cause I fancy playing devils advocate with Lynn.
1. What would be the cookie monster be without them - not even a monster ... an amusing puppet at best. 2. Cookies and milk - yon americans have been religously feeding their children milk and biscuits for decades. Fat kids are funny(look at the Goonies.. truffle shuffle...funny) Funny is good. Cookies = good. 3. A bit of history - the word cookie is derived form the the dutch word 'keokje', meaning "little cake". In essence a cookie is a cake but smaller, in this technological age smaller is better. Cookie - small cake - is 'better' than ordinary sized or big cake. Please don't try to use fairy cakes as a counter counter argument here, biscuits are still smaller in general 4. Try dipping cake into a mug of coffee and see what happens...even coffee cake struggles. 5. Cakes lie. Carrot cake, for example, is a complete charlatan, often containing more raisins than carrot. It should be called Raisin and Carrot cake. Chocolate chip cookies don't contain raisins and unsurprisingly only chocolate chips. Therefore, biscuits are honest, cakes are filthy liars. 6. You could succesfully use a biscuit to defend yourself if you were in a tight spot, perhaps even used as some kind of ninja throwing star. Cakes are useless in this respect, being much more likely to give your attacker a strengthening snack. Your beating would be at least 7% more severe than it would have been where no cake had been provided (10% for carrot cake because of the extra raisins). I rest my case... |
