insane, when you told me at table, i mislooked

the thing that happend was that you got two pair on flop, and at that moment you were winning.

but with the river there was a second 8.

so if you look at the complete board together with your cards you both have two pair, aces and eights (your 6 doesn't matter anymore),

than the 5th card is the important one. Da-guv has the highest 5th card, being Ten, higher than your 6, so he wins

The river gave him 2 pair (and ruined your pair of 6s) so his 10 kicker gives him the best hand.
