I'm pretty bored so i'm gonna give you some plays that i've come across in live poker. I just wanna know what you'd do.
This is a $50 tournament with rebuys in the first 2 levels. --- Scenario 1: 2nd level of a tournament, so rebuys allowed however, if I go out I will not rebuy. 6000 starting chips, blinds at 50/100. I have a stack of about 8000. I'm holding 9s 8s in middle position. There is 1 caller sitting to my right pre flop and I call as well. Guy on SB raises to 300, BB folds and guy to my right and me call. 1000 in pot. Flop comes 4c 6s 7s. I've got a straight flush draw with 2 overcards. These guys are holding about 6000 chips each. SB bets 400 and the player to my right calls. What would you do? 1800 in pot and i'm holding 7500 chips. These players will probably rebuy if they go out but I will not. A) Make a tight fold B) Call and see another card for cheap C) Make a raise, you could take the pot down, but you may not hit D) All in, could take the pot down again, but risking most your chips. |

B would be my likely choice C is a close 2nd, my read on the opponents would influence this i.e how have these players responded to raises on previous hands as I'd like to take the pot down right now if I raised. D I'm not into, right now you have 9 high and will only be called by a made hand or possibly an Ace flush draw. What did you do and how did it work out? |

at 5:10 AM, Friday January 15, 2010 EST I actually went all in. In hindsight, while the move paid off (I hit a flush on the river), I wouldn't make that move again. I guess my reasoning would be I either wanted to take down the pot there and then or get paid off if I hit.
Both players actually called. One had Ad 7d, top pair no draws. Other had 4s 3s so flush draw, straight draw and pair. Ks on river won me the pot and I trebled up. I ended up coming third and taking $300. |
