Two pair on flop

It's usually said that having two pair on flop is a death sentence in gPokr. I decided to check this out and didn't do anything different as to my betting. I kept a log last month of the 63 times they showed up ...

Of those, there were 49 wins from best hands or folds. 9 of those became full houses and the others remained as two pair.

I had only 12 losses (from either my folding or a better hand). Now this is interesting. Of those 12, 9 were straights (or had 4 to a straight showing) and 3 were flushes (or 4 to a flush showing. Twice a straight showed up on the table and we tied.

I think this research is cooler than the average post but it's missing the conclusion

I'm assuming you're saying that two pair is not bad if there are no straight or flushes present on the board.

also, most people play hands/situations based on past experience instead on statistics and common sense. I think this disproves them nicely.

DrRich, your sample size way too small to offer anything of meaning or even a basis for speculation. Having said that I welcome an effort to look more closely at gpokr's seemingly anomalous behaviour in card distribution.

Poor RNGs generate a poor level of randomness. Though this doesn't support any assertions that the site is rigged. ( I know you haven't mentioned 'rigging', but many others do.)

I've noticed strange outcomes here many times. But when we use the word 'rigged', who is it rigged for. I find it inconceivable to think the algorithm has been doctored to support A) Ranked player B) New Players C) Members or D) More exciting hands. IMHO, I believe that the RNG here is of poor quality.

FOR THE PARANOID amongst us "The dealer was not after YOU". Just wrong place, wrong time and a poor quality RNG.

I think the main thing that cause claims of rigging are best seen when multiple callers who play like they don't give a damn, the maniacs that don't respect raises suck out and annoy the guy that mad a big pfr and got 5 calls. In that scenario AA has only 49% chance of winning against 5 random hands. This make people go nuts and scream at gpokr rigging.

All money sites use licensed and regulated RNGs, this place is a freebie so why should Ryan invest in an all singing all dancing RNG. They play here is like anti-poker and the RNG acts up so when things go weird in a hand why should we care?

Very well said Jules. It's not really a poker site because the majority of players will call big pre raises with just about anything so it really comes down to do you really want to waste time on a site where people may know the game a little but for the most part they have 2 cards & they are going to play them. Some of these players are playing 10 to 15 thousand hands. This I can't relate to. Even if I had that much time no way would even consider playing that much. As for the 2 pair thing I think you've done your best to satisfy your own beliefs Doc & that's all that matters. Anytime you have a player pool that believes 89 is better than AK well it doesn't take a great mind to know how most of the players think. The best thing to do is find a private game if you really want a decent game.

Blah Blah, rigged, Blah blah rigged.. I'm bout to f*ck yall up with some truth! No one just gets bored and creates a "free" poker site. I will guarantee you that this lady Ryan get paid for all those "free" ads you see enticing you with go back to college, online dating, home equity loans, penis enlargement, etc.... So the more logical reason would be to "rig" the site for wild showdowns , horrible bad beats, etc. In a casino the same thing is done with the term "loose slot machines" Everything in the world today is set up to be altered for good or bad, but in the end for profit!
