not sure if there is set rules, but when i became mod...lynn had suggested to give warning first (verbal or on their wall), -3 day ban, -7 day ban, etc.
Depending on the mod and who mentored them, they may have had different instructions to follow. I use this as a standard, different situations could be longer.

i highlighted this, not as a personal attack, but to show the vast difference in punishment for exactly the same offence.
its time for you mods to be given direction on what ban/ restriction is the right one for the offences YOU have decided to deal with.
if direction/ guidance is not forthcoming from the owner of the site, then in my opinion you should seek advise from him on how you should deal with offences, after all its HIS site you are moderating!

leaving things as they are will only create discontent amongst the players that are left here.

appreciate you taking the time to read this and comment gnice, i think its a great pity, that we have 10 mods on here and your the only one to bother to get involved in this post... again in my own humble opinion i think the gpokr community would welcome a response from the other moderators who could indeed take this opportunity to give their opinion, and show us "players" that the site is being moderated in a fair way.
at this point i have to point to KC 97 CAN HE PLEASE EXPLAIN.... why one day he bans someone indefinitely for swearing then 2 days later he is watching at a table when a player calls another player a "bastard" and he immediately after that comment is said he leaves and says nothing, its these random inconsistencies that end up with ppl being confused with what is or is not acceptable, so come on KC! PLEASE EXPLAIN
here is the chat that that i put on his wall for an explanation, but sadly no response

"ford ranger: bastard Dandelion01: lol KC 97 has left

if it showed in was watching at the table doesnt mean i was there ,,,i come and go on the site without signing off..i may have come back and missed the conversation...after seeing your post i gave ford ranger a warning on his wall...as far as my banning of ACE BABE his comment was totaly unacceptable and in my opinion was bannable for an undetermined time to give him time to think about his comments...his chat has since been returned,,i was told when i became a mod to use my own discretion as to what i felt needed to be done..until im told otherwise i will continue to do the same...like gnice said ther are no specific rules for us to follow...hope this answers your Question...

just for general info..since Jan 2016 I have banned 54 accts for cheating, threatening peoples lives,etc...only 20 have been banned for language, and disrespect of people at tables...i think im doing a fair job...there are always going to be a few who dont agree..thats life ..we cant always please everyone...

I think the point is, there seem to be differences between the mods on how certain things should be dealt with. There is no I in team and I would think the mods would all have the same boundries and same penalties. It seems to me that at times mods disagree cause there are none. Where is the harm in getting together and working as a team and working out those boundries together. Or am I totally missing something when it comes to the caring of the site and players?

If there are no rules, there cannot be judged (maybe time to read 'James Reason' and his work on 'just culture'?).
Distinction between what harms and what doesn't. Taking intentions and context into account.
Tolerate names like 'Islamic State' and ban players who say 'cunt' is beyond shame or imagination. And having 'no rules' is a weak excuse for that (as the French say: qui s'excuse, s'accuse...).
If gpokr has no rules or principles about what can be said and what not (as some mods state), then don't leave it up to some good intentioned mods to judge people.
They're lost before they started. Don't put nice people like KKM or gnice on the front line without any protection. They'll do and will be done more harm then good and gpokr will end up with more disgusted then charmed players.

GL to all mods 'whose intentions are good'. GL to gpokr!
