i just dont understand the point of posting on this thread if you have no idea and no intention of doing any research into the topics. in a debate you research, you argue your point, you concede lost points. the black and white of some peoples thorts here appall me.

Australians have played the same greedy economic game and we will fall as well, no matter how much our leaders assure us we are 'sound' and will ride the storm. we are incredibly guilty of apathy, whilst embracing our sporting heroes and teams that continually disappoint.

on another note, increased taxes, even in these lean economic times is imperative to support the poor and the sick, because they are soon to be the majority of the voters in this economic crises. taxing the rich (200 000 + incomes) is probably the only way to help alleviate this situation.

Gay lord you mentioned that Iraq is a war about oil. If that's true why hasn't the US repatriated all those oil wells and taken the oil? Ahhh that is the crux of the world confusion about the US. The war really was about terrorists not oil. We haven't taken one cent of oil illegally from Iraq. They still control and sell their oil as a member of OPEC. Our troops have been slowly leaving the country for the last year as the Iraqi government gains strength and stability with its own security forces. I know this because my son is active duty marine corp and was scheduled to go to Iraq and that has changed. As to Africa there are millions upon millions of dollars sent to Africa every year by the US in the form of aid and charity. There is no lack of help from the US. As to your last point 200 billion dollars has been spent on aid to Katrina victims at last report. Not enough I agree but Rebuilding an entire city isn't cheap. So your comments are inacurate at best. Maybe you ought to get your facts straight before trying to comment on my naivety.
