Guess I'm in good company

It's in my nature to push a good thing. I was really lucky yesterday and made the top 25. Probably ensured a medal for the month. But I wanted to see how far I could take it...and I'm back at the kiddy table. LOL.

But it looks like I'm in good company and it gives me some good insight about this game. I don't enjoy the 30 day format. I like the options now of tournament play. I look forward to it.

I guess the thing I still haven't figured out is why this is worth all the time we spend playing it. There's no money, an ugly little medal on the 30th or 31st day and the realization that hours of time are wasted on this little obsession.

Maybe I should do like Kizzadaman and asked to be blocked. Or find an obsession that pays a little better. Any suggestions?

I'm afraid Ryan cotrols our lives and there's no way back now. The question is no longer "should I play?" but instead "should I play gpokr, kdice or xsketch?".

Pretty soon he'll buy google and take over the world.

The Free things in life we sometimes find to enjoy more then those that take time and money. But for a real good kick, spending time with the family is a real good learning/growing process that is priceless.

I hope this site is not an obsession and I hope it's not taking over your life! GPokr should at most be one little extra thing you do to balance your day. I can see it contributing in a few ways:

- Play for 30 minutes to relax after work. I would compare this kind of play to golf. You relax and get into the flow of playing. Socialize a bit. And hopefully watch your rank improve a bit each month. It's good to relax and take some time with a simple game.

- Play for a couple hours to learn holdem poker without worrying about money. Even though a lot of people call and see the flop compared to real money playing I still think this is a good site to learn the basics of poker. It's always good to learn.

- Play very often to compete as a top player. You truly need to play a lot to compete for a top position. It's a good accomplishment to get into the top 100 out of thousands of players. And it's a good thing to have that sense of accomplishment sometimes.

I'm thinking I should do more work to cater to the first category. Any ideas?

I think we should all turn off our computers and have sex. Lots of sex. It's free, good exercise and only takes about 15 minutes...lol.

impatient, gosh i guess i'm shocked with such angst. i guess stamp collecting pays better, but so long as you are prepared to hold on for the long run and not sell short you ll do ok.

i think you are just writing what we all feel, life/pokr seems pointless: no political arguments, no hillbillies to torment, the forum has become dull - just the usual cheating, ive been dealt the worst hand etc.

i hear your despair imp, mayhap caberet singers and juggling monkeys at each table may help...
