Im not trying to post a bad beat I had on here. I am here to say that there honestly has to be some sort of logarithm or equation on here to have an underdog come from behind by either catching turns, rivers, or combination of the two. Maybe it was on here to begin with for added excitement to the site to kickstart it but it has to stop. The site has lost all integrity to me as a legitimate site because of the amazingly bad beats that occur constantly. It is getting quite ridiculous.

at 12:37 PM, Thursday October 22, 2009 EDT Losers always shout RIGGED site when good hands turn bad. This site isn't rigged, some players think it is but they fail to take into account that with free chips you get lots of callers, lots of callers mean lots of bad beats, simples.
Q. Does anyone actually think that Ryan intentionally fucked up the randomness? |

at 3:15 PM, Thursday October 22, 2009 EDT well it changes the gameplay for people buecause then they overpursue to try to catch flushes or straights because they go on past knolwedge that they got it before and that is not real poker. I get your point zoid but i feel that it should at least be scaled down a little bit

at 12:58 PM, Monday October 26, 2009 EDT Zoid might be right insofar as people do tend to focus more on the bad beats than anything. But I'd suggest there's something further that might skew the number of bad beats here at GPokr that isn't an algorithmic problem, and it's pretty obvious. The simple fact is that with a only a ten minute refill period and the potential to use as many accounts as they want, the newbtards go crazy on what they will bet with and even very tight and solid players who bet only on decent cards are going to see a higher occasion of bad beats simply because there is more random betting action on general.
That being said, I certainly don't see the harm in resolving the question of whether there is an algorithmic problem as well. I don't want my habits skewed by playing with hands that do not accurately represent truly random dispersal. |
