at 1:20 PM, Friday November 20, 2009 EST Gerrard once wrote "I don't think there's anything worse than a player diving when no one's been anywhere near him. It does ruin the game." And yet he has done it himself on a number of occasions.
Once is too many in my book. He gets away with it because he is English and when someone like Eduardo dives he gets ripped to shreds. After the Celtic incident the media seemed to think Eduardo invented the dive. |

at 1:26 PM, Friday November 20, 2009 EST Still it is somewhat ridiculous to single out Gerrard. You named three players, 2 of which I agree with you but naming Gerrard is a bit silly. The only reputation Gerrard has is being one of the very best midfielders currently in the game.

at 1:33 PM, Friday November 20, 2009 EST I picked 3 off the top of my head, I could have gone on forever. I recently saw Gary Neville try a ridiculous dive which I thinked he rightly got booked for.
I don't deny Gerrard is an excellent player but that doesn't mean his diving can be ignored. Also I picked him mainly due to those ridiculously hypocritical comments, I mean I've never read Ronaldo moaning about diving. |

at 1:43 PM, Friday November 20, 2009 EST Regardless of his comments he is not renowned for cheating in the game, that is not his reputation.
There are many, many others that have earned a reputation for cheating. Gerrard is not one of them. |

at 1:49 PM, Friday November 20, 2009 EST Thank you Del point proved quite nicely there. Also Rattus you have proved my point aswell about the hypocritical world of football.
All I will add is before the Eduardo dive at Celtic I can't remember him being a prolific cheat. It only takes one incident for these players to be branded cheaters and yet other players get ignored. Henry is one of the greatest players to grace the premier league, perhaps we should allow him to get away with these rare incidents like Mr.Gerrard. |

at 2:15 PM, Friday November 20, 2009 EST By the way, the way a reputation is primarily earned is through media coverage. Alot of football fans need the media to make their opinions for them so will just follow what the 'pundits' are saying.
Gerrard's diving is ignored in the same way some of Rooney's terrible tackles are, usually those are swept under the carpet and he is described as a 'passionate lad.' I believe Bent recently dived in a premier league game and he was described as making a penalty. The media and pundits are biased that's not really a revelation though is it. |

at 4:19 AM, Sunday November 22, 2009 EST It was the adjucator which made this mistaken decision. Henry admitted himself that it was a hands, so I don't think you should call him shameful.
anyway Spain is going to be champion, so who cares about this game. |
