I doubt there will be a dramatic shift in any form of politics, because people are caught up on other arbitrary things, and the Federal Reserve still exists... |

at 5:47 PM, Tuesday January 20, 2009 EST I don't profess to know a lot about politics and world affairs but dont you think that good race relations and understanding is the key to peace?
What else is there? My weapons are bigger than yours???? |

at 6:12 PM, Tuesday January 20, 2009 EST So "race relations" trumps every other concern? Maybe we should clone our future president to have equal proportions of all races. According to that logic all other issues will take care of themselves. You are so focused on race (definition of racism, no?) that you have ignored what the left really stands for: socialism(and it's ugly cousin, communism). Socialism/communism doesn't work folks. It's has failed every time and everywhere it's been tried.

Todd, labeling all democrats as having no substance is a huge stereotype. I am an independent, but have many democratic values, many republican ones as well. Barack Obama may not be the most credentialed politician to make it to the White House, but given the example of GW...credentialed but a total dufus. What Barack Obama has brought to this country is hope and optimism. He is an extremely educated man, and yes eloquent. I didnt vote for him because he was black, and niether did the other white voters. He represents change, and the fact that he didn't have the entire country's vote. He won the popular and the electoral votes. He is the president and it wouldn't be a bad thing to come together as democrats, republicans and independents (As Americans) and try to become a more prosperous and peaceful nation. |

at 6:39 PM, Tuesday January 20, 2009 EST Funny how when the dems are in power they always say, "let's all get along" and "let's all get behind the president".
But when a conservative is there, every left winger considers it an obligation to lob every slur in the book. I don't tolerate double standards. Look for me to kick Obama when he is down (and he will be). I expect nothing less than most of you when the shoe is on the other foot. By the way, since when does not knowing much about a subject compel someone to post their opinion? If you don't much about something, shut and get educated before chanting along with the crowd. |

at 9:29 PM, Tuesday January 20, 2009 EST I can't help thinking that the waves of hope across america will soon crash into the rocks of reality.
Don't expect miracles from the guy. The world is in crisis and Obama is far from some super hero about to rescue us from the impending decline in fortunes of the west. Let's just hope that the general public are realistic with their hopes and aspirations of a president that has very little experience or genuine presidential credentials. |

at 10:47 PM, Tuesday January 20, 2009 EST Well, I am not one to be an expert on politics but alot of negative criicism that some have ignorantly posted is obviously not going to do the "world" any good is it?
As far as the comment; "The world is in crisis and Obama is far from some super hero about to rescue us from the impending decline in fortunes of the west" Are you serious?????????? Who said he is the one to rescue the world?? As for previous comments by those who were bashing others opinions, with again negative comments, are others not entitled to their own without being attacked? One would hope that this change in leadership would be looked at with a more positive attitude than what is clearly displayed here. It is what it is... so why not make the best of it and try and help make those changes instead of criticizing the unknown. |

at 11:08 PM, Tuesday January 20, 2009 EST Bravo Todd.... I think what you said, however blunt, needed to be uttered. I have great hope for Obama...perhaps his lack of experience is good for our country. Only time will tell. As to your comment about 30 million dead due to charismatic political leaders....that was the total from only one of the wars fought. The actual number in the 20th century is much much higher than that.
One last comment to all my favorite Democrats and liberal friends...I am imploring you to watch and be wary... if the government is selling us all into the deepest depression in the history of the United States you need to join with us Conservatives in two years to make dramatic changes in the makeup of our government...the battle cry is vote out all experienced politicians in favor of real people that want this country to survive another 200 years. We need an unbalanced budget with more paying the defecit down than going into new programs...no new taxes...and responsible leadership for the first time in the last four decades. Now I'm stepping off my bully pulpit. :p |
